Anaerobic Digestion of Olive Mill Wastewater in the Presence of Biochar

چکیده
Biological treatments focused on stabilizing and detoxifying olive mill wastewater facilitate agronomic reuse for irrigation fertilization. Anaerobic digestion is particularly attractive in view of energy recovery, but severely hampered by the microbial toxicity wastewater. In this work, addition biochar to mixture was studied improve stability efficiency anaerobic process. Kinetics yields biogas production were evaluated batch tests with concentrations ranging from 0 45 g L−1. The reduced sensibly lag phase methanogenesis increased maximum rate generation. Final hydrogen methane not affected. Upon biochar, soluble COD removal 66% up 84%, phenolics 50% 95%. Digestate phytotoxicity, as measured seed germination tests, compared raw Addition further phytotoxicity and, furthermore, a stimulatory effect observed twenty-fold dilution. conclusion, enhances wastewaters effectively reducing inhibition digestate thus improving biomass recovery.

Co-digestion of Olive Mill Wastewater and Swine Manure Using Up-Flow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor for Biogas Production
Swine wastewater (SW) and olive mill wastewater (OMW) are two problematic wastes that have become major causes of health and environmental concerns. The main objective of the current work was to evaluate the efficiency of the co-digestion strategy for treatment of SW and OMW mixtures. Mesophilic batch reactors fed with mixtures of SW and OMW showed that the two adapted sludges Gadot and Prigat ...

Efficiency of Fenton Process in Olive Oil Mill Wastewater Treatment
Background and purpose: Wastewater olive processing industries have significant amounts of organic compounds resistant to biodegradation which are hazardous if not treated and discharged to the environment. Advanced oxidation processes such as Fenton process have been considered to increase and improve the biological degradability of this type of wastewater. Current study aimed at investigating...
متن کاملAntimicrobial Activity of Olive Mill Waters (Alpechin) and Biotransformed Mill Wastewater Waste- Olive Oil
Olive oil extraction produces a great volume of residue. These olive mill wastes are known as alpechin. This wastewater is a powerful pollutant, resistant to degradation and presents a severe environmental problem related to its high organic content made up largely of simple phenolic compounds, that have been described as being both antimicrobial and phytotoxic. This paper reviews briefly the a...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
